BMW Unveils New R 1300 GSA Adventure Bike with Automatic Clutch

The latest addition to the GS adventure bike family is here – the BMW R 1300 GSA. Based on the new R 1300 GS platform, the GSA boasts significant upgrades tailored for off-road enthusiasts.

First of its kind Automatic Clutch System

A groundbreaking feature of the R 1300 GSA is its standard Automatic Shift Assistant (ASA). This innovative system eliminates the need for manual clutch operation during gear changes and stops, enhancing rider comfort and convenience. While a traditional clutch lever is absent, a gear lever remains, allowing for manual gear control if desired. BMW plans to offer ASA as an option on the R 1300 GS from 2025 onwards.

Enhanced Range and Capability

The GSA lives up to its name with a massive 30-liter fuel tank, a substantial 11-liter increase over the standard GS. This translates to fewer fuel station interruptions on long journeys. However, this added capacity comes at a weight penalty. The R 1300 GSA weighs 269kg, 32kg more than its GS counterpart. Standard seat height is adjustable between a formidable 870mm and 890mm, catering to taller riders. BMW also offers shorter seat and suspension options for added accessibility.

Variants and Features Galore

The R 1300 GSA comes in four variants: standard, Triple Black, GS Trophy, and Option 719 Karakorum. Even the base variant boasts an impressive array of standard features, including four riding modes, engine brake control, hill-hold assist, and radar-assisted safety features. For riders seeking further customization, a plethora of optional extras are available, including electronic suspension, adaptive ride height, and Pro riding modes. Additionally, BMW’s extensive accessories catalogue offers a wide range of protective gear, luggage options, and aesthetic enhancements.

India Launch and Expected Price

While an official launch date for India is yet to be announced, the current price of the BMW R 1300 GS in India is Rs 20.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Considering the price premium of the 1300 over the 1250 it replaced, we can expect a similar increase for the GSA variant. The R 1250 GSA currently retails for Rs 22.50 lakh in India, suggesting a potential price range for the R 1300 GSA in the ballpark of Rs 22.50 lakh to Rs 23 lakh.

The all-new BMW R 1300 GSA with its automatic clutch system, extended range, and comprehensive features list promises to be a compelling choice for adventure seekers and long-distance touring enthusiasts in India.
