Bookings Reopened for Top-Spec Hybrid Variants

Toyota has once again opened bookings for the highly sought-after ZX and ZX(O) hybrid variants of the Innova Hycross. This comes after the company temporarily halted bookings in May due to overwhelming demand. Despite the reopening, customers can expect a significant wait time of 6-8 months for delivery.

This isn’t the first time Toyota has faced this issue. The automaker paused bookings for these top-spec hybrid models in April 2023 as well, citing supply chain constraints. It resumed bookings a year later after addressing production challenges.

Hybrid Variants Driving Sales

The hybrid powertrain has been a major contributor to the Innova Hycross’ success, accounting for over 50% of total sales. This is despite the premium price tag compared to the petrol-only variants.

To meet the surging demand, Toyota has been optimizing its production processes and increasing overall capacity. A significant portion of this increased production is dedicated to the hybrid models. The company aims to reduce the waiting period to less than six months by the end of the year.

Long Waiting Period Continues

While Toyota has made progress in addressing the supply constraints, the waiting period for the Innova Hycross hybrid remains substantial. The official website lists a pan-India average wait of 13 months, though dealer-level estimates suggest a more realistic timeframe of 6-8 months.

The regular petrol variants of the Innova Hycross also have a considerable waiting period of around six months.
