Citroen has officially announced the pricing for its highly anticipated Basalt coupe-SUV. With a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh, the Basalt aims to disrupt the competitive midsize SUV segment.
Pricing and Variants
Citroen offers the Basalt with two engine options: a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter petrol and a turbocharged 1.2-liter petrol. The latter is available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
- Basalt You: Powered by the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, priced at Rs 7.99 lakh.
- Basalt Plus: Available with both 1.2-liter naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines, priced at Rs 9.99 lakh for the naturally aspirated variant and Rs 11.49 lakh for the turbocharged manual.
- Basalt Max: Powered by the 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, offered with both manual and automatic transmissions, priced at Rs 12.28 lakh for the manual and Rs 13.62 lakh for the automatic.
An optional dual-tone finish is available for the top-spec Max variant at an additional cost of Rs 21,000.
Features and Competition
The top-spec Basalt Max comes equipped with a range of modern features, including a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and essential safety features like six airbags and electronic stability control.
Compared to rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, the Basalt offers a competitive price point and a distinctive design. While it may not match the feature-packed offerings of some competitors, it aims to stand out with its unique styling and driving dynamics.
A Strong Contender
Citroen’s entry into the midsize SUV segment with the Basalt is a strategic move. By offering a compelling combination of style, features, and affordability, the Basalt has the potential to attract a significant customer base.
