Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the EQA, their most affordable electric vehicle yet, priced at Rs 66 lakh. This new addition joins the company’s existing electric car line-up in India, which includes the updated EQB 7-seater SUV, the larger EQE SUV, and the EQS sedan. Bookings for the EQA are now open, with deliveries scheduled to begin in January 2025.
Only One Variant Offered
The Mercedes EQA comes in a single, fully loaded variant – the EQA 250+. This front-wheel drive electric SUV competes with rivals like the Volvo XC40 Recharge and the BMW iX1.
Stylish Design with Luxurious Interior
The EQA boasts a stylish crossover design with a signature Mercedes grille featuring a star pattern and a full-width light bar at the front. The rear design is reminiscent of the EQB, and 19-inch AMG alloy wheels come standard. There are seven color options to choose from, including Polar White, Cosmos Black, Mountain Grey, High-Tech Silver, Spectral Blue, Patagonia Red Metallic, and Mountain Grey MAGNO.
The luxurious interiors feature back-lit star patterns on the dashboard and door trims, similar to the S-Class and EQS. Rose gold or titanium grey pearl highlights accentuate the upholstery and air vents, while Cupertino leatherette upholstery comes as standard. Technology features abound, with a touch-capacitive steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a digital driver’s display, heads-up display, augmented reality navigation, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with the latest Mercedes operating system, a 360-degree camera, and a powerful Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos. Safety is well addressed with seven airbags, blind spot monitoring, and advanced driver-assistance systems like active brake assist.
Decent Power and Range
The EQA gets its power from a 70.5kWh battery pack that drives a front-mounted electric motor generating 190hp and 385Nm of torque. The electric SUV can accelerate from 0-100kph in 8.6 seconds and has a top speed of 160kph. With a WLTP-certified range of up to 560km on a single charge, the EQA offers good driving range. The battery supports DC fast charging up to 100kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in just 35 minutes. A standard 11kW AC charger will take around 7 hours and 15 minutes for a full charge.
A Strong Contender in the Electric SUV Market
The Mercedes EQA enters the electric SUV market as a compelling option for those seeking an affordable luxury electric vehicle. With its stylish design, feature-rich interior, and decent driving range, the EQA is sure to give its rivals a run for their money.
