MG Windsor EV: A Feature-Packed Electric SUV

MG Motor India is set to launch its highly anticipated Windsor EV on September 11. The five-seater electric SUV promises a spacious cabin with a focus on rear-seat comfort, thanks to its born-electric platform. In the latest teaser, the company has revealed that the Windsor EV will come with a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, among other advanced features.

A Large and Feature-Packed Infotainment Screen

The 15.6-inch display in the Windsor EV’s top variant will be one of the largest in the mass market segment, second only to the more expensive BYD Seal sedan. This screen will serve as the primary interface for various functions, including infotainment, climate control, and vehicle settings. It will support Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and connected car features like the JioSaavn app.

Interior Design and Features

The Windsor EV’s interior features a modern and comfortable design. The two-part dashboard combines soft-touch materials with unpolished wood and brushed aluminum inserts. The steering wheel, borrowed from the Comet, includes additional buttons for features like cruise control. A second screen behind the steering wheel provides instrumentation information. Other notable features include a panoramic glass roof, reclining rear seats with center armrests, rear AC vents, 18-inch alloy wheels, full LED lighting, a powered tailgate, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera suite, ambient lighting, and more.

Battery Range and Performance

The Windsor EV will be available with two battery pack options in India, similar to the Wuling Cloud EV sold in Indonesia. The 37.9kWh battery offers a claimed range of 360 km, while the 50.6kWh battery provides a range of 460 km. A front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor with 134 horsepower powers the EV.

Expected Price and Rivals

The Windsor EV is positioned as a high-riding large hatchback and will compete with models like the Nexon EV and lower variants of the Curvv EV in India. It is expected to be priced under Rs 20 lakh, making it a more affordable option compared to the MG ZS EV.
