The third-gen Maruti Dzire, having been in the market for almost seven years, is set to receive a generation update later this year. This update is based on the all-new Swift, slated for debut next month. The Dzire, tailored for the Indian market’s sub-4m segment to benefit from tax advantages, will see its global debut in India, with launch expectations in the second half of 2024
Distinct Styling and Differentiation from Swift:
The upcoming Dzire will feature evolutionary styling updates and an all-new interior, distinguishing itself from the Swift despite sharing several sheet metal parts. Reports suggest unique bumpers, alloy wheels, and potentially different headlamps, contributing to the sedan’s individual identity within the Maruti lineup.
Enhanced Equipment and Features:
In terms of equipment, the Dzire is expected to be better equipped than the Swift, with segment-first features like a single-pane sunroof and possibly a 360-degree camera. While sharing the Swift’s dashboard architecture, Maruti aims to differentiate the Dzire’s interior to align with customer preferences and market demands.
New Z Series Engine and Transmission Options:
Under the hood, the new Dzire will adopt the new Z Series 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, replacing the existing K Series engine. This engine will undergo India-specific tweaks focusing on emissions, efficiency, and performance. Transmission options are expected to include 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes, with a factory-fitted CNG kit planned for later inclusion.
Launch Schedule and Market Positioning:
Maruti Suzuki plans to launch the Dzire approximately 3-6 months after the Swift’s debut. Positioned to compete with models like the Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor, the updated Dzire is likely to see a price increase reflecting its enhanced features and technology. Anticipate its arrival closer to the festive season, adding a refreshed option for compact sedan enthusiasts.
