Honda Unveils New Electric Car Series for China

Honda has announced a new lineup of electric vehicles (EVs) specifically for the Chinese market, known as the Ye Series. This collection will comprise six EV models, three of which will be showcased at the upcoming Beijing motor show. All six models are scheduled to be available in China by 2027.

Distinctive Design and Badge:
The Ye Series vehicles will feature a redesigned version of Honda’s traditional ‘H’ badge, presented in white and with a flattened appearance. Operations for the Ye Series will be overseen by Dongfeng Honda and GAC Honda.

Ye SUV Models: P7 and S7
The P7 and S7 SUVs are set to debut in China later this year. They will offer options for either a single-motor, front-wheel-drive configuration or a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive setup. Honda promises sporty handling for the RWD versions and enhanced performance with slightly more responsive handling for the 4WD variants.

Ye Sedan: GT Concept
The GT Concept sedan boasts a distinctive “race driver” driving position, a wide windscreen, and dynamic performance features. While specific powertrain details haven’t been disclosed, Honda plans to launch the production version before the end of 2025.

Driving Experience and AI Integration:
The Ye Series models are designed based on Honda’s MM (Man Maximum, Machine Minimum) concept, aiming to refine the joy of driving. They will incorporate LED instrument panels and AI-powered assistants for enhanced functionality.

Honda’s EV Strategy in India:
While the Ye Series won’t be introduced in India, Honda is working on an electric SUV based on the Elevate platform (codenamed DG9D) for the Indian market by 2026. Additionally, Honda aims to make India a hub for EV exports, with a significant portion of vehicles produced there expected to be shipped to markets like Japan by 2026.
