Toyota Fortuner Mild-Hybrid Launched in India at ₹44.72 Lakh

Toyota has just launched the Fortuner and Legender with a brand-new 48V mild-hybrid system in India. Named Fortuner Neo Drive and Legender Neo Drive, these updated versions bring improved fuel efficiency, better responsiveness, and smoother driving—all while keeping the familiar rugged appeal of the Fortuner.

💸 Pricing & Availability

  • The Fortuner Neo Drive 48V starts at ₹44.72 lakh, ex-showroom.
  • The more premium Legender Neo Drive 48V is priced at ₹50.09 lakh, ex-showroom.
  • Bookings are open now, and Toyota says deliveries will begin from the third week of June 2025.

⚙️ What’s New Under the Hood?

Both versions use the same 2.8-litre diesel engine as before, but now with a 48V mild-hybrid setup. This means:

  • You still get 201 hp and up to 500 Nm of torque.
  • Thanks to the hybrid assist, you can expect up to 5% better fuel economy.
  • Driving is smoother, especially during stop-start traffic, with quicker acceleration and quieter engine restarts.

This system is already available on the Hilux in international markets and is now making its Indian debut in the Fortuner.

🔧 Tech & Safety Upgrades

The updated Fortuner now includes several new features, such as:

  • 360-degree camera for better visibility,
  • Wireless phone charging, and
  • Toyota’s Safety Sense suite, which includes various driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

These updates not only improve everyday convenience but also bring the Fortuner closer to luxury SUVs in terms of features.

🧠 Why This Matters

The Fortuner is already a fan favorite in India for its reliability and strong road presence. With the addition of mild-hybrid tech, Toyota is giving buyers better efficiency and smarter features—without changing the core strengths that made the SUV so popular.

If you’re someone who loves the rugged charm of the Fortuner but wouldn’t mind a bit of refinement and fuel savings, the Neo Drive 48V versions might just hit the sweet spot.
