BMW India has initiated the booking process for the all-electric i5 sedan, allowing customers to make reservations online or at authorized dealerships. The i5 will be imported as a fully assembled unit (CBU) and will have limited availability in the Indian market.

The i5 will be presented in the top-tier M60 xDrive variant, highlighting BMW’s advanced electric capabilities. Despite having a slightly smaller wheelbase than the upcoming ICE 5 Series, the i5 promises exceptional performance and range.

Equipped with electric motors on both axles, the BMW i5 M60 xDrive delivers a combined power output of 601hp and a torque of 820Nm. This configuration enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-100kph in just 3.8 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 230kph. The i5 utilizes BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system for superior traction and handling.
Battery Specifications and Range
Featuring an 81.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the i5 M60 xDrive boasts a WLTP-certified range of up to 516km on a single charge. It comes standard with an 11kW AC charger, with an option to upgrade to a 22kW onboard charger. Additionally, the sedan supports 205kW DC fast charging, allowing for a 10-80 percent charge in just 30 minutes.
Expected Pricing and Delivery Timeline
BMW has refrained from disclosing the pricing details for the i5 M60 xDrive variant. However, industry expectations suggest that it will carry a premium price tag, likely exceeding the Rs 1 crore mark compared to its ICE counterparts. Deliveries are set to commence in May 2024, prioritized on a first-come-first-served basis.
