Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9e record 30,179 bookings on day 1

Mahindra’s latest electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, have garnered significant attention, collectively securing 30,179 bookings on the first day of availability. The distribution of these bookings is 56% for the XEV 9e and 44% for the BE 6. Notably, the top-tier ‘Pack Three’ variant, equipped with a 79kWh battery, emerged as the most popular choice among consumers.
Given that approximately 100,000 electric vehicles were sold in India throughout 2024, Mahindra’s achievement of over 30,000 bookings in a single day underscores a growing acceptance of electric mobility in the country. Bookings for both models are currently open at select Mahindra dealerships nationwide and through the official Mahindra website. However, with a production capacity limited to 5,000 units per month, deliveries are scheduled over a six-month period from March to August 2025.
The BE 6 offers two powertrain options:
- 59kWh Battery Variant: Delivers 231 horsepower and 380Nm of torque, configured in a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout.
- 79kWh Battery Variant: Produces 286 horsepower and 380Nm of torque, also in an RWD configuration.
The larger 79kWh battery variant boasts an ARAI-certified range of 682 kilometers on a single charge, while the 59kWh version offers a range of 556 kilometers.
The XEV 9e’s powertrain details are as follows:
- 59kWh Battery Variant: Equipped with a rear-mounted motor generating 231 horsepower and 380Nm of torque.
- 79kWh Battery Variant: Features a more potent motor producing 286 horsepower and 380Nm of torque.
The 59kWh variant offers a MIDC-rated range of 542 kilometers per charge. Charging times are approximately 8.7 hours using a 7.2kW AC charger, 6 hours with an 11.2kW AC charger, and around 20 minutes to reach 80% charge using a 140kW DC fast charger.
In summary, Mahindra’s BE 6 and XEV 9e have made a remarkable entry into the Indian electric vehicle market, reflecting a strong consumer interest in sustainable transportation solutions.
