Maruti Alto K10 and S-Presso Sales Double in December 2025: Small Car Demand Revives
Maruti Suzuki has recorded a massive surge in the sales of its entry-level hatchbacks, the Alto K10 and S-Presso, in December 2025. The mini-segment sales have nearly doubled compared to the same period last year, signaling a strong revival in the small car market in India.

Mini Segment Records 92 Percent YoY Growth –
According to official data, Maruti Suzuki sold 14,225 units of the Alto K10 and S-Presso in December 2025. This is a significant 92 percent increase over the 7,418 units sold in December 2024. On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the segment also saw a 15 percent growth compared to the 12,347 units sold in November 2025. This segment now accounts for 6.2 percent of the brand’s total domestic sales.

Factors Behind the Sales Surge –
The primary driver for this growth is attributed to the GST 2.0 reforms implemented at the end of September last year, which led to price drops across various models. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki reported a meaningful increase in first-time buyers, particularly in smaller towns and cities beyond the top 100 markets. The share of first-time buyers has reportedly increased by approximately five percentage points.
Strong Performance Across Other Segments
While the mini-segment stole the headlines, Maruti’s compact segment also performed exceptionally well:
Compact Segment (Baleno, Swift, Dzire, Wagon R, etc.): Sales rose by 43 percent year-on-year, reaching 78,704 units in December 2025.
Best Sellers: The Maruti Baleno was the company’s highest-selling model for December with 22,108 units, while the Maruti Dzire emerged as the best-selling car in India for the entire calendar year 2025.
Maruti Suzuki Ends 2025 on a High Note
The fourth quarter of 2025 (October to December) saw an overall sales increase of 22 percent compared to the previous year. Maruti Suzuki concluded the calendar year 2025 with its highest-ever total wholesales of 18,06,514 units, representing a 3 percent annual growth. Although SUVs and MPVs still represent 48 percent of total sales, the resurgence of the hatchback segment highlights a shifting trend in the Indian automotive market.
