Maruti Suzuki Reintroduces Grand Vitara CNG at ₹13.48 Lakh

Maruti Suzuki has brought back the Grand Vitara S-CNG, offering a practical blend of efficiency and features in the midsize SUV segment. Priced from ₹13.48 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Delta variant and ₹15.62 lakh for the top-spec Zeta, the CNG versions cost about ₹95,000 more than their petrol counterparts — but promise significant fuel savings over time.

Fuel Efficient Yet Capable

Powering the Grand Vitara CNG is Maruti’s 1.5-litre K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine, producing 88 PS and 121.5 Nm of torque in CNG mode, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. While performance is slightly toned down compared to petrol variants, the real highlight is its impressive 26.6 km/kg mileage — making it one of the most economical SUVs in its class.

Safety and Features Upgraded

The 2025 update brings significant safety improvements. Standard features across all variants now include six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD, rear disc brakes, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts. The higher Zeta trim adds premium touches like a 9-inch touchscreen, ventilated seats, wireless charging, PM2.5 air purifier, connected car tech, and more.

A Unique Proposition in Its Segment

Unlike rivals such as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, which don’t offer CNG options, the Grand Vitara stands out as the only midsize SUV with a factory-fitted CNG variant. The move aligns with Maruti Suzuki’s aggressive CNG push, with over 14 models now available and an ambitious sales target of 6 lakh CNG units for FY25.

The Verdict

The re-launched Grand Vitara S-CNG offers an attractive option for buyers who want SUV practicality, modern features, enhanced safety, and low running costs — all in a factory-fitted CNG package that remains unique in its segment.
