Volvo XC90 Facelift Launch on March 4

Feb 11, 2025

Volvo is preparing to introduce a refreshed version of its flagship SUV, the XC90, in India on March 4, 2025. This update is anticipated to bring several enhancements in design, interior features, and powertrain options.

Design Updates

New Volvo XC90 T8 – exterior

The facelifted XC90 is expected to feature subtle yet impactful design changes. The front grille may receive a new pattern, complemented by sharper Thor’s Hammer LED daytime running lights. Minor modifications to the bumpers are likely aimed at improving aerodynamics and aesthetics. Additionally, redesigned alloy wheels and slight revisions to the vertical taillights are anticipated to align with Volvo’s contemporary design language.

Powertrain Options

Globally, the XC90 facelift offers both mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The B6 mild-hybrid variant features a 2-liter turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V hybrid system, delivering approximately 300 PS. The Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid combines a 2-liter turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor, producing a total output of 455 PS and offering an electric-only range of up to 70 km, thanks to its 18.8 kWh battery. It remains to be seen which powertrains will be available in the Indian market.

Technological Advancements

The XC90 facelift is expected to build upon Volvo’s reputation for safety and in-car technology. The Android-based infotainment system is likely to receive updates for improved responsiveness. Enhancements to the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking, are anticipated. A 360-degree camera system with better resolution and optimized driving modes for the hybrid powertrains may also be part of the update.
