Apr 19, 2025

Skoda has officially launched the second-generation Kodiaq in India, with prices starting at ₹46.89 lakh for the Sportline trim and ₹48.69 lakh for the Laurin & Klement (L&K) variant (ex-showroom) . Bookings are now open, and deliveries are scheduled to commence from May 2, 2025.

Powertrain and Performance

The new Kodiaq is powered by an updated 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 204hp and 320Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and comes standard with all-wheel drive. This marks a slight increase in power compared to the previous model’s 190hp output .

Exterior Design

While retaining its signature split headlamp design, the second-gen Kodiaq features a more rounded and aerodynamic appearance. Notable updates include new LED daytime running lights that extend into the grille, functional air vents on the front bumper, and pronounced bonnet lines. The SUV’s length has increased by 59mm, although the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,791mm.

The Sportline trim distinguishes itself with blacked-out elements on the grille, wing mirrors, D-pillar garnish, and rear bumper, along with sportier 18-inch alloy wheels. In contrast, the L&K variant features chrome accents and aero-optimized 18-inch alloys .

Interior and Features

Inside, the Kodiaq boasts a completely redesigned cabin. A new 13-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system takes center stage on the winged dashboard, complemented by a 10-inch digital driver’s display. The SUV also introduces three physical dials for HVAC controls, enhancing user convenience.

Additional features include a head-up display, massage seats, four USB-C charging ports, a 14-speaker Canton sound system, and a wireless charging box capable of charging two smartphones simultaneously.

Safety and Technology

The new Kodiaq is equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offering features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking. These enhancements contribute to improved safety and driving comfort.

Market Positioning

Locally assembled in India, the second-generation Kodiaq competes with models like the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, Jeep Meridian, and Nissan X-Trail. A performance-oriented Kodiaq RS variant, featuring a 265hp engine, is anticipated to launch later in 2025 as a completely built unit (CBU)
