2025 Volvo S90 Facelift Revealed – Gets new design

Apr 19, 2025

Volvo has unveiled the 2025 facelift of its flagship sedan, the S90, introducing significant design enhancements, upgraded technology, and improved hybrid performance. This marks the second major update for the current generation of the S90.

Exterior Design: Aligning with Volvo’s Latest Aesthetic

The 2025 S90 adopts a refreshed exterior that brings it in line with Volvo’s latest design language, as seen on models like the XC90 and the all-electric ES90. Notable changes include:

  • Front Fascia: The signature ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED daytime running lights now extend into the grille, which features new diagonal slats. The front bumper has been redesigned with sharper lines and incorporates new air curtains accented with silver trim.
  • Rear Design: The previous C-shaped tail lamps have been replaced with T-shaped LED units, and the license plate has been repositioned onto the boot lid, enhancing the vehicle’s rear aesthetics.
  • Wheels: New alloy wheel designs have been introduced, adding to the sedan’s updated look.

Interior Enhancements: Technology and Comfort

Inside the cabin, the S90 receives several updates aimed at improving user experience and comfort:

  • Infotainment System: A new 11.2-inch floating touchscreen replaces the previous 9.0-inch unit. This system runs updated software that offers improved responsiveness and supports over-the-air updates, ensuring the infotainment system remains current.
  • Sound Insulation: Additional sound-deadening materials have been incorporated to enhance cabin quietness, contributing to a more refined driving experience.

Powertrain Options: Enhanced Efficiency

While specific technical details are yet to be fully disclosed, Volvo has confirmed the following for the 2025 S90:

  • Hybrid Variants: The sedan will be available with both mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.
  • Improved Electric Range: The PHEV variant sees a slight increase in its all-electric driving range, now capable of approximately 80 kilometers, up from the previous 74 kilometers.
  • Adaptive Suspension: Adaptive suspension has been standardized across all variants, aiming to provide a balanced ride quality.

Market Availability

The updated S90 is set to launch in China in mid-2025, with subsequent rollouts planned for other international markets. In India, the current pre-facelift S90 is available at an ex-showroom price of ₹68.25 lakh. Details regarding the arrival of the facelifted model in the Indian market have not been announced yet.
