727hp Aston Martin DBX S revealed

Aston Martin DBX S Unveiled as New Flagship Performance SUV
Aston Martin has introduced the DBX S, its most powerful internal combustion SUV yet, taking over from the DBX 707 as the brand’s new performance leader in the luxury SUV category. It sets a new standard for speed and agility in non-electrified SUVs.
Powertrain and Performance Upgrades
At the heart of the DBX S is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, now enhanced with larger turbocharger components inspired by those in the Aston Martin Valhalla. These changes raise the power output to a formidable 727hp, up from the DBX 707’s 707hp, while torque remains unchanged at 900Nm.
Although the 0–100 km/h time holds steady at 3.3 seconds, its acceleration from 0–200 km/h has been trimmed down by 0.3 seconds, showcasing the improvements at higher speeds.
To complement the added power, Aston Martin has revised the 9-speed wet-clutch automatic transmission, delivering quicker and more assertive shifts in Sport and Sport+ modes. Steering responsiveness has also been sharpened, with a 4% quicker ratio and a reduced turning circle, improving overall handling.
Weight Reduction for Sharper Dynamics
A key focus in the DBX S is weight reduction. The vehicle is now 47kg lighter, with a total weight of 2,198kg.
Optional features that help shave off kilos include:
- A carbon fibre roof, which not only drops 18kg but also lowers the SUV’s center of gravity by eliminating roof rails.
- Lightweight 23-inch magnesium wheels, reducing unsprung mass by 19kg compared to standard aluminium ones.
- A newly designed polycarbonate grille, cutting weight while maintaining a bold front look.
Styling and Interior Updates
The DBX S gains a fresh, aggressive look:
- A larger black grille, inspired by the limited-run DBS 770 Ultimate.
- A revised front splitter, rear diffuser, and aerodynamic side sills to improve airflow and visual appeal.
- A new vertically stacked twin exhaust layout, replacing the horizontal setup from the DBX 707.
Inside, the DBX S offers a more bespoke experience. The seats feature a herringbone pattern, which extends to the headliner when paired with the carbon fibre roof option. Alcantara upholstery comes standard, with semi-aniline leather and contrasting red seatbelts available as upgrades. For audiophiles, there’s an optional 23-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system.
Position Among Competitors
The DBX S will compete with other ultra-high-performance SUVs, including:
- Ferrari Purosangue (725hp, naturally aspirated)
- Lamborghini Urus SE (800hp, plug-in hybrid)
- Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid (739hp)
While it doesn’t match the electrified horsepower of the Urus SE or Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, the DBX S stands as the most potent pure-combustion SUV on the market today.
Conclusion
With its improved power, sharper handling, reduced weight, and refined styling, the Aston Martin DBX S redefines what a performance luxury SUV can be—offering an unmatched blend of speed, design, and exclusivity in a combustion-powered package.
