Isuzu D-Max EV revealed with up to 262km range

Isuzu D-Max EV Unveiled with 262km Range and Full Off-Road Capability
Isuzu has introduced its first-ever electric pickup truck — the D-Max EV — blending the toughness of its popular diesel models with an eco-friendly, all-electric powertrain. The D-Max EV is designed to offer both urban practicality and genuine off-road strength, reflecting Isuzu’s traditional utility DNA with a modern twist.
Electric Powertrain and Performance
The D-Max EV comes with dual electric motors, one at each axle, effectively giving it all-wheel-drive capability. Together, they produce 190 hp and 325 Nm of torque.
- A 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery powers the truck, delivering a WLTP-certified range of up to 262 km on a full charge.
- It supports DC fast charging at 50 kW, allowing a 20–80% recharge in about an hour.
- The EV version can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds, with a top speed of over 125 km/h — respectable figures for a workhorse pickup.
Off-Road Readiness
Despite its electric setup, the D-Max EV doesn’t compromise on ruggedness. It features:
- 210mm of ground clearance
- 30.5-degree approach and 24.2-degree departure angles
- 600mm water wading depth
- A “Rough Terrain” driving mode tailored for off-road conditions
To handle the added weight and maintain comfort, Isuzu has swapped out the traditional leaf springs at the rear for a specially engineered de Dion suspension, improving ride quality and stability under load.
Towing and Payload Capacity
The D-Max EV is just as capable as its diesel sibling when it comes to utility:
- Payload capacity: Over 1,000 kg
- Towing capacity: Up to 3,500 kg
- Kerb weight: 2,350 kg
This ensures the D-Max EV is well-suited for commercial use or heavy-duty needs, even with an electric drivetrain.
Design and Cabin Features
The EV version retains the familiar exterior styling of the updated 2024 D-Max but is available only in a double-cab body style for now.
Inside the cabin, it offers a well-rounded list of modern features, including:
- A touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone compatibility
- A digital instrument cluster
- Dual-zone climate control
- Front and rear parking sensors
- Heated front seats
Conclusion
With its balance of electric efficiency and rugged pickup utility, the Isuzu D-Max EV aims to provide an environmentally conscious alternative for fleet users and off-road enthusiasts alike. It delivers respectable range and performance without compromising on the practical strengths the D-Max is known for.
