Bentley introduces a new 680hp V8 hybrid for the Continental GT and Flying Spur.
Bentley Motors has expanded its hybrid offerings by introducing a new High Performance Hybrid powertrain for the Continental GT, GTC (convertible), and Flying Spur models. This addition provides a slightly less potent alternative to the existing Ultra Performance Hybrid setup.
Powertrain Specifications
The High Performance Hybrid combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a gearbox-mounted electric motor, delivering a total output of 680hp and 930Nm of torque. This configuration allows the Continental GT and GTC to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and 3.9 seconds, respectively; the Flying Spur matches the GTC’s time of 3.9 seconds. Both GT models are equipped with a 25.9kWh battery, offering an electric-only range of 85 km for the GT and 82 km for the GTC.
Performance Comparison
Bentley emphasizes that while the Ultra Performance Hybrid remains the most extreme powertrain in its lineup, the new High Performance Hybrid surpasses the previous generation’s W12 Speed powertrain in terms of power, torque, and overall performance.
Variant Availability
The High Performance Hybrid system is available in the base-spec Core and Azure variants of the Continental GT and Flying Spur. In contrast, the more powerful Ultra Performance Hybrid is reserved for the top-spec Mulliner and Speed variants.
