Citroen C3 CNG launched at Rs 7.16 lakh

Citroën C3 CNG Launched in India, Priced from ₹7.16 Lakh
Citroën India has introduced a CNG-powered version of the C3 hatchback, with prices starting at ₹7.16 lakh (ex-showroom). The CNG setup is installed at dealerships and comes at a premium of ₹93,000 over the standard petrol version. Buyers can choose from four variants: Live, Feel, Feel(O), and Shine, with top-spec pricing going up to ₹9.24 lakh.
Powertrain and Efficiency
Under the hood, the C3 CNG is equipped with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 82hp and 115Nm of torque. Though the exact performance figures in CNG mode aren’t revealed, the car delivers an impressive ARAI-certified mileage of 28.1 km/kg.
The CNG kit, supplied by Lovato, features a 55-litre water-equivalent tank, offering an estimated range of 170–200 km per fill. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard, and Citroën has tweaked the rear suspension to ensure that ride quality remains consistent with the petrol version.
Warranty and Support
Buyers get the same warranty coverage as the regular petrol C3—3 years or 1 lakh km, including CNG components. The retrofit process is handled by authorized Citroën dealerships.
Competitive Positioning
In terms of pricing, the C3 CNG is more expensive than the Maruti Wagon R CNG (₹6.89–7.13 lakh), but more affordable than other CNG-equipped subcompact SUVs like the Tata Punch CNG (₹7.30–10.00 lakh) and Hyundai Exter CNG (₹8.63–9.53 lakh).
Conclusion
With this launch, Citroën aims to tap into India’s growing demand for eco-friendly, fuel-efficient vehicles, giving hatchback buyers a new option in the expanding CNG segment.
