Aston Martin Got Apple’s Fancy New Apple CarPlay Ultra

May 16, 2025

Aston Martin Becomes First Brand to Launch Apple’s Advanced CarPlay Ultra

Apple has unveiled CarPlay Ultra, its most sophisticated in-car software yet, and Aston Martin is the first carmaker to adopt it. This upgraded version of Apple CarPlay expands beyond just the infotainment screen to take over the entire digital dashboard, including the instrument cluster.

With CarPlay Ultra, users can now access critical vehicle data—like speed, RPM, fuel level, and EV battery status—as well as control climate settings and media using a familiar, sleek Apple interface. The system supports input via touchscreen, physical knobs/buttons, or Siri voice control, making interaction smooth and intuitive.

Bespoke Experience for Aston Martin

Aston Martin has added its own signature touches to the CarPlay Ultra interface. The design incorporates classic round dials and unique branding elements such as the “Handbuilt in Great Britain” label. Users also have the ability to customize the layout, widgets, and themes to suit their personal style.

Availability and Requirements

The feature is currently rolling out on new Aston Martin models in the US and Canada, including the DB12, Vantage, DBX, and the upcoming Vanquish. For customers with 2023+ Aston Martin models, software updates enabling CarPlay Ultra are expected to begin in June 2025. To use the system, drivers will need an iPhone 12 or newer running at least iOS 18.5.

Future Expansion Plans

Apple aims to expand CarPlay Ultra to more carmakers soon, including Porsche, Lucid, Polestar, Ford, Hyundai, Genesis, Honda, Nissan, and others. However, some premium automakers like Mercedes-Benz have chosen not to adopt CarPlay Ultra yet, preferring to stick with their in-house infotainment systems.

A Step Closer to the Apple Ecosystem on Wheels

CarPlay Ultra is Apple’s boldest step yet in blending its software with the driving experience. It offers a deeply personalized, immersive, and user-friendly interface, potentially redefining how drivers interact with their car’s systems.
