Honda City Sport Edition Launched at ₹14.89 Lakh

Jun 22, 2025

Honda has just added a bit more excitement to its popular City sedan lineup with the launch of the new City Sport edition, priced at ₹14.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This limited-run variant builds on the existing V CVT trim but adds a healthy dose of sporty flair, both inside and out, to appeal to younger buyers who want style without compromising on practicality.

A Sporty Makeover Inside and Out

Visually, the City Sport lives up to its name. It gets an aggressive blacked-out treatment across the grille, rear spoiler, shark fin antenna, ORVMs, and even the alloy wheels — giving it a much more athletic stance compared to the regular variants. To complete the look, Honda has added a ‘Sport’ badge at the rear so you know you’re not looking at a regular City.

Buyers can pick from three striking colours: Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Meteoroid Gray Metallic.

Red Highlights and Ambient Lighting Inside

Step inside, and the cabin gets a sportier vibe too. The all-black interior is livened up with contrast red stitching on the leatherette seats, steering wheel, and gear knob. Red accents have been tastefully added to the seats, dashboard, and door trims, while the air vents get a glossy black surround. To enhance the mood further, Honda has added 7-colour ambient lighting.

Powertrain and Performance: No Changes Here

Under the hood, the City Sport sticks to the trusted 1.5-litre naturally aspirated i-VTEC petrol engine, producing 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque. It comes exclusively with a CVT gearbox and paddle shifters, offering a smooth and relaxed driving experience. The powertrain is now E20 fuel compatible, and Honda claims an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 18.4 km/l.

Packed with Safety Tech

The City Sport may sit below the higher trims, but Honda hasn’t skimped on safety. It features the full Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver-assist systems, including:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Road Departure Mitigation
  • Auto High Beam

On top of that, it gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, keyless entry and go, auto headlights, and paddle shifters.

Features Left Out

However, some features from the higher trims like the sunroof, rear AC vents, LaneWatch camera, fully digital instrument cluster, auto-dimming IRVM, auto rain-sensing wipers, and extra tweeters are not offered in the Sport edition — a trade-off for the aggressive pricing.

Positioned to Take on the Sporty Sedans

With this variant, Honda clearly aims to compete with sporty sedans like the Volkswagen Virtus GT, Skoda Slavia, and Hyundai Verna Turbo. It’s an interesting option for those who want a City with a sportier edge but don’t want to stretch to the top-end ZX variant.
