Bolero Neo+ 9-Seater launched at Rs 11.39 lakh

Mahindra has launched the new Bolero Neo+ in India, expanding its lineup with a three-row, 9-seater version of the popular Bolero Neo SUV. Priced from Rs 11.39 lakh to Rs 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India), this offering caters to those seeking additional seating capacity without compromising on ruggedness and utility.

Origins and Evolution:
The Bolero Neo+ can be traced back to the TUV300+, which was phased out in 2020 due to BS6 emission norms. Now reborn under the Bolero Neo+ moniker, it builds upon the legacy of the Bolero nameplate, offering a spacious and versatile option for Indian consumers.

Visual and Dimensional Upgrades:
Visually, the Bolero Neo+ retains the familiar design cues of its sibling but distinguishes itself with subtle updates such as a revised front bumper, bull bar-like elements, and larger 16-inch alloy wheels. Notably, its extended length of 4,400mm provides ample room for a longer rear overhang, accommodating a larger quarter glass and wraparound tail-lamps.

Interior Comfort and Features:
Inside, the Bolero Neo+ maintains continuity with the Bolero Neo, featuring a familiar dashboard layout with modern additions like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and updated instrument cluster. The highlight is its 3-row setup with a 2-3-4 seating configuration, including two side-facing seats in the last row. However, some tech enthusiasts may note the absence of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Power and Performance:
Powering the Bolero Neo+ is the robust 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine from the Scorpio range, delivering 120hp and 280Nm of torque through a 6-speed manual gearbox. While sharing the ladder-frame chassis with the Bolero Neo, it lacks the mechanical locking differential present in its counterpart.

Target Audience and Competition:
The Bolero Neo+ caters primarily to tour and travel operators, contractors, and companies requiring versatile people-moving capabilities. Its competitors include the Force Citiline and the upcoming Gurkha 5-door, targeting similar segments with a blend of utility and comfort.

In essence, the Bolero Neo+ expands Mahindra’s portfolio with a practical and robust SUV, offering enhanced seating options and catering to diverse transportation needs across India’s urban and rural landscapes.
