Mahindra SUVs, Trucks, And Buses To Gets Expensive By 3 Per Cent By April 1

Mar 23, 2025

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), a prominent Indian automaker, has announced a price increase of up to 3% for its SUVs and commercial vehicles, effective from April 1, 2025. The decision comes as a response to rising input costs and higher commodity prices, which have significantly impacted production expenses.

This price adjustment will be applicable to well-known models such as the Mahindra Scorpio-N and Thar Roxx, among others. The exact hike will vary based on the model and variant. Despite the company’s efforts to absorb the additional costs, a portion of the burden will be passed on to customers to ensure financial sustainability.

Mahindra’s decision aligns with similar moves by other automobile manufacturers in India. Tata Motors, for example, has also announced a price hike of up to 2% on its commercial vehicles starting April 2025 due to increasing input costs. Likewise, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India have revealed plans to raise prices by 2% to 4% in response to escalating commodity prices, higher import duties on raw materials, and supply chain disruptions.

In terms of market performance, Mahindra recorded a 15% year-over-year growth in total vehicle sales for February 2025, reaching 83,702 units, including exports. The company’s domestic SUV sales rose by 19% to 50,420 units. Additionally, tractor sales, covering both domestic and export markets, increased to 25,527 units from 21,672 units in the previous year.

The Indian automobile sector continues to grapple with surging raw material costs and logistical challenges, compelling manufacturers to revise their pricing strategies to maintain profitability amid these economic pressures.
