🚘 Lexus Unveils Next-Gen ES Sedan with Bold Design and Electric Option

Lexus has taken the wraps off the all-new generation of its ES luxury sedan at the 2025 Auto Shanghai show. The latest iteration comes with a refreshed look, upgraded tech, and — for the first time — a fully electric version. With this launch, Lexus aims to go head-to-head with other luxury stalwarts like the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6, offering an elegant blend of style, technology, and diverse powertrain choices.

🔷 Exterior: Elegant and Streamlined

The redesigned Lexus ES now sports a more sophisticated and aerodynamic silhouette, moving away from its previously aggressive spindle grille. Noteworthy exterior changes include:

  • A sleeker front with sharper LED daytime running lights.
  • Smooth, flowing roofline giving it a coupe-like vibe.
  • Flush door handles for a cleaner look and better airflow.
  • Stylish new alloy wheels.
  • A connected LED tail light bar and a backlit LEXUS emblem.

The all-electric versions feature a closed-off grille, distinguishing them from the hybrid variants while preserving the vehicle’s overall identity.

🛋️ Interior: Clean, Classy, and Comfortable

Step inside the new ES, and you’ll find a luxurious and minimalist design that puts the driver at the center. Key interior highlights include:

  • A large 14-inch touchscreen for infotainment.
  • A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
  • Streamlined center console with storage.
  • Touch-sensitive controls that add to the futuristic vibe.
  • Plush upholstery and soft-touch materials that elevate cabin comfort.

🧠 Tech & Safety: High-End Features

The next-gen ES is packed with modern features focused on comfort, connectivity, and safety. These include:

  • Premium Mark Levinson audio system.
  • Electrochromic panoramic sunroof.
  • Wireless phone charging dock.
  • Electrically adjustable seats.
  • A comprehensive ADAS suite offering adaptive cruise control, lane assist, driver monitoring, collision warning, and adaptive headlights.

⚙️ Engine & Motor Options: Hybrid and Electric Lineup

Lexus has introduced multiple powertrain options in the new ES, catering to varied preferences:

Hybrid Variants

  • ES 300h: Comes with either a 197 PS 2.0L petrol engine or a 201 PS 2.5L petrol engine.
  • ES 350h: Packs a more powerful 2.5L petrol engine delivering 247 PS.

Both models are available in front-wheel or all-wheel drive layouts.

Electric Variants

  • ES 350e: Features a 224 PS electric motor driving the front wheels, with a claimed range of about 685 km.
  • ES 500e: Offers an all-wheel-drive system powered by a 342 PS motor, capable of covering around 610 km on a single charge.

Lexus has yet to disclose the battery specs for these electric models.

🇮🇳 India Launch Plans

Though Lexus hasn’t confirmed the exact timeline, the new ES is expected to hit Indian roads after its global debut. With all the upgrades and added variants, pricing is likely to go up from the current model, which starts at ₹64 lakh (ex-showroom).

When launched in India, the ES will take on rivals like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, and BMW 3 Series. The EV versions will challenge models such as the BMW i4 and the upcoming electric CLA from Mercedes.
