Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder gets new AWD AT trim

Apr 8, 2025

Toyota has introduced significant updates to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder for the 2025 model year, enhancing its comfort, safety, and drivetrain options. The starting price is now ₹11.34 lakh (ex-showroom), reflecting an increase of ₹20,000.

Interior Enhancements

The higher variants of the Hyryder now come equipped with several new features:

  • 8-way Power Adjustable Driver’s Seat: Offers personalized seating comfort.
  • Ventilated Front Seats: Enhances comfort during warmer conditions.
  • Rear-door Sunshades: Provides added privacy and sun protection.
  • Ambient Lighting: Creates a pleasant cabin atmosphere.
  • Air Quality Index (AQI) Monitor: Available in select variants to monitor cabin air quality.
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS): Offered in select variants for real-time tyre pressure information.
  • 15W USB-C Charging Ports and LED Reading Lamps: Now standard across all variants for enhanced convenience.

Safety Upgrades

Toyota has bolstered the Hyryder’s safety features:

  • Six Airbags: Now standard across all variants, including driver, co-driver, front side, and curtain airbags. Previously, the base E and S trims had only two airbags.
  • Electronic Parking Brake (EPB): Introduced in certain automatic variants for added convenience.

Drivetrain Update: New V AT AWD Variant

A notable change is the replacement of the 5-speed manual transmission with a 6-speed automatic in the V AWD variant. This update differentiates the Hyryder from its sibling, the Maruti Grand Vitara, which offers all-wheel drive only with a manual transmission.

Powertrain Options

The Hyryder continues to offer two powertrain choices:

  • Mild Hybrid: Features a Maruti-sourced 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 103hp and 136.8Nm of torque. Available with both manual and automatic transmissions in the 2WD version, and now with an automatic transmission in the AWD variant. Toyota claims a fuel efficiency of up to 21.12 km/l for this setup.
  • Strong Hybrid: Combines a 92hp, 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and a 0.76kWh lithium-ion battery pack, delivering a combined output of 116hp.

These updates aim to enhance the Urban Cruiser Hyryder’s appeal in the competitive compact SUV segment by offering improved comfort, safety, and drivetrain options.
