Volkswagen Golf GTI India Launch in April-June 2025
Volkswagen is set to introduce the Golf GTI to the Indian market in the April-June quarter of 2025, with prices expected to start at approximately Rs 52 lakh (ex-showroom). Select dealerships have begun accepting unofficial bookings for this highly anticipated performance hatchback.
Limited Availability
This marks Volkswagen’s second GTI-badged offering in India, following the earlier release of the 3-door Polo GTI. The initial batch for the Golf GTI will be limited to 250 units, all imported as completely built units (CBUs).
Performance Specifications
Under the hood, the Golf GTI houses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine (EA888) delivering 265hp and 370Nm of torque. This power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Volkswagen claims the Golf GTI can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 5.9 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 250kph.
Design and Interior
The Golf GTI showcases sporty aesthetics with 18-inch alloy wheels, GTI badges, and distinctive red accents. The interior features a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Volkswagen’s latest software interface, including a voice assistant integrated with ChatGPT. Traditional tartan seat upholstery, a GTI-specific steering wheel, and a digital instrument cluster with unique graphics further enhance the cabin’s appeal.
