2025 Honda CBR650R and Honda CB650R Launched : E-Clutch

2025 Honda CBR650R and CB650R Launched in India with New E-Clutch Tech
Honda has rolled out the 2025 versions of its popular middleweight bikes — the CBR650R and CB650R — in India, bringing with them a major update: the E-Clutch system. This new feature allows riders to change gears without using the clutch lever, making urban riding and stop-start traffic much more convenient. But if you prefer the old-school feel, don’t worry — the clutch lever still works like normal.
Price and Availability
- Honda CB650R: ₹9.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
- Honda CBR650R: ₹10.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Bookings are now open through Honda BigWing outlets, and deliveries are set to begin by the end of May 2025.
What is Honda’s E-Clutch System?
- The E-Clutch uses electronic actuators to control the clutch, letting you start, stop, and shift without using the clutch lever.
- Riders can still use the clutch manually, depending on their riding style or comfort.
- This system is especially helpful for newer riders who are still getting used to manual gear shifting.
- It’s a first in its segment — no other 600-700cc bike in India currently offers this feature.
Performance & Key Features
Both bikes are powered by a 649cc inline-four, liquid-cooled engine, which pumps out:
- 95hp @ 12,000rpm
- 63Nm of torque @ 9,500rpm
They share the same mechanical setup:
- 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch
- Front Suspension: 41mm Showa SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston)
- Rear Suspension: Monoshock
- Brakes: Twin 310mm discs up front, single 240mm disc at the rear, both with ABS
- Traction Control: Comes with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
- Display: A new 5-inch full-color TFT screen that connects to your smartphone via the Honda RoadSync app
Design Differences
- CB650R: Follows a neo-retro cafe racer look with an upright riding position, ideal for relaxed city rides.
- CBR650R: Styled like a sportsbike, fully faired with aggressive ergonomics inspired by Honda’s supersport range.
Competition
- The CB650R rivals bikes like the Triumph Trident 660 and Kawasaki Z650.
- The CBR650R goes up against the Triumph Daytona 660 and Kawasaki Ninja 650.
Final Word
With the new E-Clutch tech, Honda is making riding easier and more accessible without compromising on performance. These 650cc bikes now strike a better balance between ease of use and sporty character — making them great options for both new riders and seasoned enthusiasts.
