All Maruti cars to get 6 airbags as standard this year

Maruti Suzuki has announced that by the end of 2025, all its passenger vehicles will come equipped with six airbags as standard, aligning with the Indian government’s emphasis on enhanced vehicle safety.
Current Status of Airbag Implementation
Several Maruti models, including the Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon R, Brezza, Eeco, Swift, Dzire, and Grand Vitara, have already been updated to feature six airbags across all variants.
However, as of now, the Baleno, Fronx, Ertiga, XL6, Ignis, and S-Presso do not offer six airbags as standard across all trims. Notably, higher variants of the Baleno and Fronx already include side and curtain airbags, so the primary updates will focus on their entry-level versions.
Anticipated Price Adjustments
The addition of six airbags is expected to lead to price increases for certain models. For instance, the Celerio experienced a price hike of up to ₹32,500 following its safety upgrade. Similar adjustments are anticipated for the Ertiga, XL6, Ignis, and S-Presso.
Commitment to Safety
Maruti Suzuki’s initiative to standardize six airbags across its lineup underscores its commitment to passenger safety and adherence to evolving safety regulations. This move ensures that even budget-friendly models will offer enhanced protection, contributing to overall road safety improvements in India.
