BREAKING: Aprilia Tuono 457 Launched In India

Feb 18, 2025

Aprilia has officially launched the Tuono 457 in India, pricing it at Rs 3,95,000 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). This new model serves as the streetfighter counterpart to the Aprilia RS 457, sharing numerous components while introducing distinct design and ergonomic features. Notably, the Tuono 457 becomes the most affordable offering from Aprilia in the Indian market. Customers can secure a booking for the motorcycle with a payment of Rs 10,000.

Design and Ergonomics

The Aprilia Tuono 457 distinguishes itself within the Tuono lineup through a unique design approach. Departing from the quarter fairing and dual-headlight configuration seen on models like the Tuono 660 and Tuono V4, the Tuono 457 adopts a fresh aesthetic that may surprise traditional Aprilia enthusiasts. Ergonomically, the motorcycle features a flat, single-piece handlebar, promoting a more relaxed and upright riding posture compared to the committed stance of the RS 457. This design caters to riders seeking Italian performance with enhanced comfort and accessibility.

Engine and Performance

At the heart of the Tuono 457 lies a 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, delivering 47.6PS at 9,400rpm and 43.5Nm at 6,700rpm—identical figures to its faired sibling, the RS 457. The engine pairs with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip-and-assist clutch. Aprilia has modified the rear sprocket by adding an extra tooth, resulting in shorter gear ratios. This adjustment enhances torque delivery and throttle responsiveness, aligning with the aggressive character expected of a streetfighter.

Chassis and Suspension

Constructed on an aluminum perimeter frame, the Tuono 457 employs a 41mm inverted fork with preload adjustability at the front and a monoshock with adjustable preload at the rear. The suspension system offers 120mm of travel upfront and 130mm at the rear, balancing comfort and handling precision. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, with braking managed by a 320mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, both equipped with Bybre calipers. The seat height stands at 800mm, and the kerb weight is 175kg, mirroring the RS 457. The weight remains consistent due to the offset between the removal of certain side panels and the addition of the handlebar assembly.

Features and Technology

The Tuono 457 comes equipped with modern features, including three riding modes—Rain, Sport, and Eco—a three-level traction control system, and dual-channel ABS. The 5-inch TFT instrument console offers smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation as standard, enhancing rider convenience and safety.

Market Position and Competition

In the Indian market, the Aprilia Tuono 457 competes with models such as the KTM 390 Duke and the Yamaha MT-03. While the KTM 390 Duke is priced Rs 1,00,000 lower, the Tuono 457 justifies its premium with additional performance, features, and the distinctive Italian design flair. Compared to the Yamaha MT-03, the Tuono 457 offers superior performance and features for an additional Rs 40,000, appealing to riders seeking a blend of comfort, performance, and style.

Overall, the Aprilia Tuono 457 presents a compelling option for enthusiasts desiring a versatile streetfighter that combines performance with everyday usability, all within an accessible price point in the premium motorcycle segment.
