BYD Sealion 05 EV revealed : 520km range

BYD has unveiled the Sealion 05 EV, marking its eighth all-electric SUV offering. This new model is built on an advanced technological platform and is available in two variants, both featuring BYD’s God’s Eye C advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) as standard.
Exterior Design
The Sealion 05 EV presents a distinct design compared to its plug-in hybrid counterpart. At the front, it features a connected LED headlight setup reminiscent of the Atto 3 model. The bumper integrates cameras and sensors, accompanied by a wide air dam with a silver skid plate and body-colored shroud, flanked by inward-leaning vertical air intakes on both sides. The side profile showcases thick plastic cladding with body-colored inserts and a downward crease, complemented by wheels with a black-and-silver finish. A portion of the D-pillar is blacked out to create a floating roof effect. At the rear, the SUV boasts a long rectangular light bar with a smoked effect, an illuminated BYD logo, and a roof spoiler.
Dimensions
The Sealion 05 EV measures 4,520mm in length, 1,860mm in width, and 1,630mm in height. While it is smaller overall compared to its plug-in hybrid version, it offers a slightly longer wheelbase of 2,720mm (an increase of 8mm). The vehicle’s weight varies between the two versions, with one weighing 1,780kg and the other 1,670kg.
Battery, Performance, and Range
The Sealion 05 EV operates on a rear-wheel-drive, single-motor layout and boasts a “class-leading” turning radius, according to BYD. It is available with two battery pack options:
- 60.9kWh Battery Pack: This version offers 214hp and a claimed range of 520km.
- 50kWh Battery Pack: This variant delivers 188hp and a claimed range of 430km.
The larger battery pack is likely featured in the version weighing 1,780kg, while the lighter 1,670kg version is equipped with the smaller battery.
Technological Advancements
The Sealion 05 EV is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo, which supports advanced features and efficiencies in electric vehicle performance. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye C ADAS system as standard, enhancing safety and driving assistance capabilities.
With the introduction of the Sealion 05 EV, BYD continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup, offering consumers more choices in the all-electric SUV segment.
