MG S5 EV Expected To Debut By 2026, Will Replace ZS EV

MG Motor is set to introduce the MG S5 EV, an all-electric SUV, by early 2026. This model is poised to replace the current ZS EV in MG’s lineup and will compete directly with the Hyundai Creta EV in the Indian market.
Dimensions and Design
The MG S5 EV measures 4,476 mm in length, 1,849 mm in width, and 1,621 mm in height, making it larger than the existing ZS EV. Its wheelbase extends to 2,730 mm, promising enhanced cabin space and improved legroom for passengers. The design features split LED headlamps, body-colored ORVMs, roof rails, and a distinctive rear LED light bar connecting the tail lamps, giving the vehicle an aggressive stance.
Interior and Features
While specific interior details are yet to be confirmed, expectations include a larger infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Battery and Powertrain
The MG S5 EV is equipped with a 62 kWh battery pack paired with a rear axle-mounted electric motor, delivering a peak power of 171 HP and a torque of 280 Nm. This configuration is anticipated to offer a range exceeding 500 km on a single charge.
Initially, the MG S5 EV will launch in the European market, with its Indian debut planned subsequently. This strategic introduction underscores MG’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle portfolio and catering to the evolving demands of the Indian automotive market.
