Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck Spotted

Mahindra is advancing its vehicle lineup with the development of a pickup truck variant based on the Scorpio N SUV. Recently, a test mule of this upcoming pickup was spotted undergoing trials in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, indicating that the vehicle is nearing its production phase.
Design and Configuration
The observed test vehicle shares several design elements with the existing Scorpio N SUV, including a similar headlight configuration, LED lighting signature, and alloy wheel design. Notably, this prototype features a single-cab layout accompanied by an extended cargo bed, resulting in a pronounced rear overhang. This differs from the previously showcased Global Pik Up concept, which sported a dual-cab design. Additionally, while the concept model exhibited a unique grille and a minimalist bumper equipped with a prominent tow hook, the test mule retains the front fascia identical to the Scorpio N SUV.
Powertrain and Performance
It is anticipated that the Scorpio N pickup will be powered by Mahindra’s 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine, capable of producing 175 horsepower and up to 400Nm of torque. Transmission options are expected to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Given its utilitarian design, the pickup is likely to feature a four-wheel-drive system with shift-on-the-fly capabilities, as well as multiple drive modes tailored for various terrains, such as Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut, and Sand.
Mahindra is looking to expand its presence in the Indian market with the Global Pik Up. This is an interesting development, as the brand already enjoys considerable trust among SUV buyers. The Pik Up’s success will depend on its ability to attract both lifestyle enthusiasts and practical users. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this launch.
