The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 has been transformed into a vintage masterpiece named ‘Project Delta’ by the Australian custom workshop, Purpose Built Moto. This custom motorcycle draws inspiration from the 1930s and 1940s, showcasing a blend of retro aesthetics and modern engineering.

Key Modifications:

• Front Suspension: The traditional telescopic fork has been replaced with a girder fork, reminiscent of early 20th-century motorcycles, enhancing the bike’s classic appeal.
• Fuel Tank: A handcrafted ‘peanut’ tank, inspired by the 1952 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 700, features a black and gold pinstripe design, adding to its vintage look.
• Handlebars and Controls: The bike is equipped with narrower handlebars, custom grips, and levers. The analogue speedometer is uniquely positioned on the handlebar stem, in front of the tank and beneath the handlebars, providing a clean and unobstructed view.
• Rear Frame and Suspension: To emulate a ‘hardtail’ appearance (a design without rear suspension), the rear wheel is mounted directly onto a modified sub-frame. However, for rider comfort, a monoshock is discreetly integrated beneath the seat, offering the classic look without compromising ride quality.
• Wheels and Brakes: The motorcycle features custom 23-inch front and 19-inch rear spoked wheels. Both ends are fitted with custom brake rotors and retro-style single-piston calipers.
• Gear Shifter: A standout feature is the hand-operated gear shifter on the left side, which incorporates the clutch. This design requires the rider to momentarily remove their hand from the handlebars to shift gears, adding to the vintage riding experience.
• Engine Enhancements: The bike is fitted with twin brass velocity stacks—retro-styled air intakes mounted directly onto the throttle body—potentially enhancing performance by improving airflow. Additionally, the oil cooler is cleverly integrated into the downtube, maintaining the bike’s clean lines.
• Exhaust System: Compact custom twin exhausts replace the stock versions, contributing to the bike’s streamlined and classic profile.
