Skoda Slavia B Concept Bike – Something Different

Apr 27, 2025

Skoda has introduced the Laurin & Klement Slavia B Concept, an electric café racer that pays tribute to the company’s origins in bicycle and motorcycle manufacturing. Designed by in-house designer Romain Bucaille, this concept bike reimagines the 1899 Slavia B, Skoda’s first motorcycle, blending historical design elements with modern electric vehicle technology.

A Nod to Skoda’s Heritage

The original Slavia B, launched in 1899, featured a 240cc air-cooled engine producing 1.75 horsepower, capable of reaching speeds up to 40 km/h. It lacked a gearbox, relying instead on a flat belt drive, and included pedals for starting and auxiliary propulsion. Only 540 units were produced.

The new Slavia B Concept retains the silhouette of early Laurin & Klement motorcycles, particularly the distinctive frame that dips lower than the rest of the structure. While the original housed its engine within this frame, the concept leaves this space empty, featuring a floating modern reinterpretation of the Laurin & Klement logo.

Design and Features

  • Electric Powertrain: While specific technical details have not been disclosed, the concept is envisioned as an electric motorcycle, aligning with modern sustainable mobility trends.
  • Minimalist Aesthetics: The bike showcases a clean, streamlined design, with the absence of a traditional engine allowing for a unique visual focus on the frame and branding elements.
  • Historical References: Design cues such as the low-slung frame and overall silhouette draw direct inspiration from the original Slavia B, creating a visual link between past and present.

Skoda has clarified that the Slavia B Concept is purely a design study and will not enter production. However, it serves as a symbolic gesture, celebrating the company’s roots and showcasing its design capabilities.

The Laurin & Klement Slavia B Concept stands as a testament to Skoda’s rich history and its ongoing commitment to innovation. By blending classic design elements with modern electric vehicle concepts, Skoda offers a glimpse into how heritage and future mobility can coexist.
