Tata Sierra ICE Concept Debuts At Auto Expo 2025

Jan 17, 2025

Tata Motors has unveiled the near-production concept of the Tata Sierra SUV at Auto Expo 2025, marking the return of the iconic model to the Indian automotive market. The Sierra is set to be available in electric (EV), petrol, and diesel variants, with the EV version expected to launch first, followed by the internal combustion engine (ICE) models later in the year.

Design and Features

The new Tata Sierra retains design elements reminiscent of the original model, such as the signature curved rear-side windows, squarish wheel arches, and a high-set bonnet. The ICE and EV versions share a similar design, with subtle differences like a slightly tweaked grille and distinct alloy wheels.

Inside, the Sierra features a modern cabin equipped with three 12.3-inch screens: a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment display, and a passenger-side touchscreen. Additional highlights include a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and ambient lighting. The SUV is expected to offer both four- and five-seat configurations.

Top-spec models are anticipated to come with a premium sound system, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and ventilated front seats. Safety features are likely to include six airbags, a 360-degree camera system, electronic stability control (ESC), and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Powertrain Options

The Tata Sierra is based on Tata’s ATLAS architecture and is expected to be offered with multiple powertrain options:

  • Electric (EV): The Sierra EV is slated to launch first, with specific details about its electric motor and battery specifications to be announced closer to the release date.
  • Petrol: A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing approximately 170hp and 280Nm of torque is expected.
  • Diesel: A 2.0-litre diesel engine, likely shared with the Harrier and Safari models, though its exact power and torque figures for the Sierra are yet to be confirmed.

Both manual and automatic transmission options will be available. Additionally, the Sierra may offer an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, enhancing its versatility across different terrains.
