Volvo XC60 facelift revealed

Feb 19, 2025

Volvo has unveiled the second facelift of its popular XC60 SUV, introducing subtle yet significant updates to its design and technology. This refresh comes three years after the previous update and eight years into the current generation’s lifecycle.

Exterior Design Enhancements

The 2025 XC60 adopts design elements reminiscent of the updated XC90, which debuted last year. Notable changes at the front include a redesigned grille featuring diagonal slats, replacing the previous vertical ones, and vertically oriented air vents integrated into the bumper. The SUV also boasts new alloy wheel designs and tail-lamps with a smoked effect, enhancing its contemporary appeal. Additionally, Volvo has expanded the XC60’s color palette with two new options: Forest Lake and Aurora Silver. The Mulberry Red finish, previously available on other Volvo models, is now also offered for the XC60.

Interior and Technological Upgrades

Inside, the XC60 maintains its luxurious ambiance with minor refinements, including an upgraded speaker mesh grille design and the use of new premium materials. A significant highlight is the introduction of an 11.2-inch freestanding infotainment screen. This new system, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Platform processor, offers improved image quality, supports over-the-air updates, and is claimed to be twice as fast as Volvo’s previous infotainment system.

Powertrain Options

Volvo has not announced any changes to the XC60’s mechanical components. The SUV is expected to continue with its existing powertrain lineup, which includes a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission and a mild-hybrid system, delivering 250hp and 350Nm of torque. This configuration is currently the sole option for the India-spec XC60. In international markets, the XC60 is also available with a 2.0-litre twincharged plug-in hybrid variant.

These updates aim to keep the Volvo XC60 competitive in the midsize luxury SUV segment, blending refined aesthetics with advanced technology.
